But over the years, that economic strategy has caused headaches for authorities, who have intervened when patriarchs die and tensions between disgruntled relatives boil over.
The House sent an email to its 124 members giving them a chance to refuse the extra in-district compensation, and 34 declined the money, House Clerk Charles Reid said in an email.Senators could ask their clerk directly not to pay them, and Climer and two other Republicans have refused the raise, Senate Clerk Jeffrey Gossett said.
Joining Climer in the lawsuit is retired educator and Republican activist Carol Herring. She said the raise going into effect immediately is counterproductive to being a good servant.“I am concerned we are sending people to Columbia to serve in the General Assembly, and somehow it is seen more as a job than part-time service to our state,” Herring said.LOS ANGELES (AP) — As she was putting together her seventh and
Sharon Van Etten came up with a tongue-in-cheek idea for its title. “Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory,” she wanted to call it — a reference to both her interest in psychology and a play on the familial dynamics that often exist within a band.Although most of Van Etten’s bandmates have been with her for several years, this was her first time writing songs with them, so playing with that relationship felt apt. But when the indie musician approached her collaborators with the idea for the title and band name, there was one stipulation: “They said, ‘I don’t mind you calling it ‘The Attachment Theory,’ as long as we don’t have to talk about our attachment styles,’” Van Etten laughed.
As they gear up for a fall tour, announced Monday, Van Etten spoke with The Associated Press about her stream-of-consciousness style of writing and how being a mom has made her more cognizant of how much time she spends on her phone. The interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.

Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib claimed thousands of pages of documents had been obtained which would be made public soon. Among them were documents related to the U.S., Europe and other countries which, he claimed, had been obtained through “infiltration” and “access to the sources.”He did not elaborate on the methods used. However, Khatib, a Shiite cleric, was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2022 over directing “cyber espionage and ransomware attacks in support of Iran’s political goals.”
For Iran, the claim may be designed to show the public that the theocracy was able to respond tothat spirited out what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as a “half ton” of documents related to Iran’s program.
