A village nursery's expansion plan has been recommended for approval, despite concerns from residents.Limes Court Nursery School in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, has applied for permission to expand into an empty jewellery shop on Limes Court shopping arcade.
It would create another 16 early years places, the nursery said, but City of Wolverhampton Council has received 13 objections from residents citing concerns over increased noise and traffic. The proposal is due to go before the council's planning committee at a meeting on Tuesday. In a report to the committee, planning officers said it did not comply with some of the authority's policies but the benefits of the scheme could "be given significant weight".
"On balance, the proposal would not undermine the vibrancy of the centre, and the loss of the retail unit is acceptable in this case," the report said.Limes Court opened more than 20 years ago, and the nursery opened as Tettenhall Tots in one of the units attached to the former Victorian stabling structure.
It was later taken over by Limes Court Nursery School, which expanded into another unit four years ago.
