A scan of her microchip showed she had originally been called Candi, and had been reported missing from Rainham in 2015, with the family now living in Faversham.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to Castle Gate in Newark at 23:53 BST on Wednesday after the man was found collapsed.He was declared dead at the scene, despite the efforts of emergency services to save him, the force added.
Detectives said a 22-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held in custody.Castle Gate, Stodman Street and Middle Street remain cordoned off on Thursday morning as investigations continue.Det Ch Insp Jennifer Lovatt said: "What happened in Newark overnight is tragic and has resulted in the death of a man.
