The collision happened on the M60 between Junction 16 at Pendlebury and Junction 15 at the M61 Swinton Interchange at about 19:20 GMT on Thursday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.The lorry, with a white cab and blue trailer, is believed to have struck two vehicles, crossed into the opposing carriageway and then collided with a further two vehicles, the force added.

The driver of one of the vehicles the lorry struck, a man aged in his 60s, died and a woman in her 20s suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries while several others sustained minor injuries.
