Downing Street has said it is "confident" the raw materials needed to keep the furnaces at British Steel's Scunthorpe site switched on will reach it in time.
A full closure of the motorway between junction 10, near Wisley, and junction 11, for Woking, saw both carriageways shut over the weekend from 21:00 GMT on Friday.The section of motorway is due to reopen at 06:00 on Monday.
The work is part of a £317m project to add extra lanes to improve safety and cut congestion where the motorway meets the A3.Diversion routes have been put in place around the closure, although National Highways said on Saturday there were delays of up to 30 minutes on the approach to both junctions.Work began in 2022 and was due to end this summer but the completion date has now been delayed until spring 2026, due to "periods of extreme weather".
However, National Highways said this would be the final full weekend closure of the motorway.National Highways admitted previously there had been a "notable increase" in traffic during the last closure compared with three closures in 2024.
It encouraged drivers to allow extra time and use alternative routes where possible.
Drivers were warned to follow official diversion routes after anShe has now been paired with Zena Meacham, who lives in Stourport-on-Severn.
"She is really stepping up to the mark and giving me my independence back," her new owner said.Ms Meacham was born with retinoblastoma and is "totally blind" but she said the new addition to her family had transformed her life.
"Yukiko is my third guide dog and she's no different from my last two dogs - you wouldn't be able to tell that she's travelled from Japan," she added."Now that I’ve got Yukiko, or Kiko as we call her, I'm able to get the bus into Stourport, without having to rely on friends or my husband to take me."
