German authorities said in a statement on Tuesday that "as part of the investigation into the Madeleine McCann case, criminal proceedings are currently underway in Portugal".They said this was being undertaken with the support of Portugese police.
Tuesday's search will be the first to take place in two years. The last search took place near a remote dam, a 40-minute-drive from where Madeleine was last seen.Local media reports the new search will focus on the area between her family's holiday resort and the house where the prime suspect in the German investigation, Christian Brückner, used to live. The 48-year-old was named by German authorities in 2020, while serving a sentence in Germany for raping a 72-year-old American tourist in Portugal in 2005.
He has never been charged in the McCann case and denies involvement. The number of people injured when a car drove into a crowd during Liverpool FC's Premier League title parade has now increased to 109, police have confirmed.
At about 18:00 BST on 26 May police were called to Water Street after a car crashed into crowds of Liverpool fans celebrating the team's homecoming.
A nine-year-old was among the youngest victims of the incident in Water Street. Her play will be performed alongside the work of eight other young playwrights on 9 and 10 July at the Assembly Rooms in Ludlow.
Oxygen spectacles and a baby's banana bottle all form part of an exhibition of historic medical artefacts to be shown to patients at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.Volunteers will take the handling collection around the wards from 2 to 8 June in a scheme which has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Some of the items are from the former Royal Hospital, which closed in 1997, and Wolverhampton-based chemist Reade Brothers and Company."The bottle comes with its own story, and once the story is told, it unlocks memories and anecdotes or sparks questions, and a broad range of topics are explored, ranging from sustainability to social history," said volunteer Helen Statham.
