She was also reunited with call handler Ms Kett who said her call with Esmai was one she would not forget."Esmai was incredibly brave on the phone, and from what she told me, I arranged for an ambulance crew to go to her house and help her mum," she said."I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Esmai in person and give her a big hug."
More parents across the South East have been risking fines to take their children on holiday during the school term, latest government figures reveal.The Department for Education said there was an increase in fines for unauthorised school absences to take children on holiday in Surrey, Kent and Sussex last year.
Across England, the number of fines rose from 356,181 in 2022/23 to 443,322 in 2023/24.
East Sussex saw a 49% increase from 2,829 to 4,201, which was the biggest increase seen by local authorities across the three counties.The first meeting of the new authority's board is due to take place in early March.
A number of aircraft enthusiasts will be issued with anti-social behaviour warning letters for straying outside a designated viewing zone at an RAF base, police have said.Plane-spotters, including children, have been seen standing near safety fencing at RAF Waddington, in Lincolnshire, to secure better views.
Police said the base had clear signage and officers had made "efforts to engage with spotters", but a group had chosen to ignore the advice.The force said further action would be taken if enthusiasts continued to flout the rules.
